Street Art & Murals

Open-air art telling the popular soul of Gaeta.

In recent years, the bare walls of some buildings in Gaeta's historic centre have become large open-air canvases. Walking through the alleys of the old town, you might suddenly look up and find yourself in front of a mural telling a piece of local history or tradition — a different, surprising way to discover the city.

🎨 A story painted on the walls

Gaeta's murals aren't random decorations: many depict scenes of everyday life, old trades and city traditions, such as fishing and home cooking, turning the historic centre into a free, open-air museum.

📍 Where to find them

The most beautiful murals are discovered by strolling unhurried through Via dell'Indipendenza and the side streets of the old town: they don't follow a fixed route, and that's exactly why every corner can hold a surprise. A good excuse to get lost among the alleys, perhaps combining your walk with a stop at one of the area's historic shops.
